Type the measured outside diameter — likely material and DN, ranked by fit. PE excluded (its OD is always known).

Cast iron and AC "turned end" ODs are the machined coupling seats — as-cast barrels run larger and rougher. Measure before selecting couplings, UPTs or linestop fittings.
What flange is this?
Measure the PCD (bolt-circle centre to centre) and/or the flange OD, count the bolts — likely standard and size.
On an assembled joint measure across two opposite holes, outside to inside edge, to get PCD. BS10 and ANSI drillings are close at some sizes — confirm hole diameter before drilling a mating flange.
